Everyone likes cloud time lapses. We thought we'd take it a step further and highlight a cloud time lapse that is the size of the Northern Hemisphere. It is hard to comprehend weather on this scale... those clouds that whip in from the left can be more than 4,000 miles long!
We were originally going to feature a cool storm sequence from the Christmas storms of 2008, but this time lapse is so consistently amazing, we thought we'd just leave it live. The movie above is a time lapse of the current week. New images arrive about every 2 hours.
What amazes us about this time lapse is that no matter what the weather on a local level, the entire Pacific Ocean and the west coast of the US has these huge clouds that are thousands of miles wide flowing across them.
